Gordon inspired me to write this post.
Gordon, I’m sorry for the photo, but that’s what I picture when I think of you from this trip.
The 2018 IDBF World Cup was so fun! The 2016 World Cup was already super fun and this one was even better. It took place in Chongqing, which was already better than 2016’s Wujin, because it was in a legit city and not in a middle-of-nowhere city. To be very fair, it wasn’t in Chongqing proper, and in fact an hour away from the airport, but hey, good enough. There were shopping malls nearby, and so we were in civilization. It was also better than the five hour drive from the Shanghai airport that the Wujin location was.
After a long hiatus, here is a blog post.
We had our first fit test of the 2017-2018 season a couple Thursdays ago at A4A. It was really more of a baseline test, as none of our subsequent tests will resemble it in any way. The point was to give our recruits (and vets) a general idea of where they stand compared to everybody else and to see what they might need to work or focus on.
Today Yesterday, Dragon Boat Canada held a town hall meeting where they introduced the central region committee members and explained the general workings of DBC. I learned that the central region includes not only Ontario, but also Nunavut. Did you know that?
Well, it was, anyway. A while ago. I’m late, I know. I told Edmond I’d have this post done by January and, well, it’s February 12th now. Sorry, Edmond.
That line is pretty much the only one I know from whatever song those lyrics are from.
It’s past the end of the holiday season, which is very sad because now it’s time to go back to real life, but it was nice while it lasted. Lots of time off, seeing friends and family…
Aaand free food, presents, and parties!
So many events, so little time. I’ll post the last episode of the World Cup series at some point, I promise.
Here is the first post of 2017 (which was supposed to be the last post of 2016, but we all know by now how slow I am at posting).
Eric is the worst.
I was going to write a post about Eric being my new favourite because he bought me a breakfast sandwich, but then he ruined it by being a brat and calling me old and fat.
So let it be known that Eric is the worst. And he is also fat. And a baby. Lily still needs to babysit her little cousin.
The final NDRC fitness test of the 2015-2016 season is now over! Huzzah!
No more pain for at least another half year.
Highlights of the test, which spanned over several days due to people testing at different times:
It’s my birthday in two days! I decided to have two birthday dinners to celebrate, one with each of my dragon boat families. Today was the first one, with NDRC, which was held at Dragon Pearl. Dragon Pearl is one of my favourite buffets and I super recommend it. It’s so fancy and has a ton of variety. So basically today was the first of two fat days because going to a buffet means eating as much as you can because you’re Asian and want to get your money’s worth.
