New Phone

I have a new phone! It has been two years since I changed phones, so it was time for a new one.

I would normally include a picture of said new item, but unfortunately I take pictures using my phone and I can’t take a picture of my new phone with my new phone so you will have to make do with imagining it. It is black and rectangular with rounded corners and has a black cover with a newspaper-themed picture of skyscrapers on the back.

Final Fit Test 2017

My blogging has fallen shamelessly off the bandwagon and was stressing me out because I felt pressured to post when I was feeling lazy so I have decided to only post sporadically when I feel like it and thus not have to feel guilty about neglecting it.

I felt like today warranted a post and I’m going to write it right away so I don’t procrastinate and then forget about it and then never ending up actually posting it.

Today we had our final off-season fit test before the water season starts!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

Well,  it was, anyway. A while ago. I’m late, I know. I told Edmond I’d have this post done by January and, well, it’s February 12th now. Sorry, Edmond.

That line is pretty much the only one I know from whatever song those lyrics are from.

It’s past the end of the holiday season, which is very sad because now it’s time to go back to real life, but it was nice while it lasted. Lots of time off, seeing friends and family…

Aaand free food, presents, and parties!

So many events, so little time. I’ll post the last episode of the World Cup series at some point, I promise.

Here is the first post of 2017 (which was supposed to be the last post of 2016, but we all know by now how slow I am at posting).

Nationals 2016 (Part 3/3)

I know this post is quite late and I haven’t posted in a long time. School has been very busy (trying to get a paper out!) and I just haven’t had the time.

The last day of Nationals was also the last day of the 2015-2016 season. There was good, there was bad, and there was complicated.

And there was a protest.

More on that later.

TIDBRF 2016

This post is a long time coming and I know it’s very late but hey, maybe it’ll be good to rekindle some of the fire from this competition in anticipation of upcoming Nationals.

TIDBRF was a weekend of huge ups and downs and the way things panned out was almost as if it were the plotline of a movie. So many emotions, it was definitely a dramatic weekend to remember.

*Spoiler alert* It was a successful weekend. 🙂 🙂 🙂

OC Testing and Flatwater Paddling

Iron Dragons had OC testing two weekends ago in Pickering. It was a good mid-season test to see how people were progressing throughout the summer. I’ve helped out every year at OC testing, though I wasn’t able to this year at the beginning of the season because it took place while all the coaches were at the NDRC spring camp.

Every past season I was one of the steers, since we test in OC-2’s. But not this year! Steering is the worst. You’re essentially out all day in the sun, getting hot and flustered, and getting tired because you’re paddling all day and people testing don’t want to get too worn out so they either take it easy paddling to the start line or don’t paddle at all and you’re just stuck paddling that heavy boat alone and hating life. That was a run-on sentence.
